Oh my gosh – I somehow had missed that — although it sounds like pure Romney. Its not so much he’s rich that scares me – its that he is so tone deaf to the rest of us.

Nice Simpsons reference! Whenever they claim they can relate to everyday people, I think about what Romney said when asked if he liked NASCAR. “I have some friends who are NASCAR team owners.”

I like the look on the woman’s face as she sits there. I can hear her now — “Oh honey, stop being silly and put the President down…our pizza is getting cold.”

This is one of Obama’s great strengths – his ease with real people and social situations. Every time Anne Romney protests too much and says “we really are in touch with everyday people” what my head hears is Mr. Burns from the Simpsons saying, “I’m quite fond of these hammed-burgers, Smithers. Lets have another the next time cook is away.”

It turns out that the bear hug guy was a Republican who voted for Obama in 2008 and intends to this year also. It appears that there is still a few moderate and thinking conservatives out there, no?
